N. of potholes on USFS rd. to Independence Lakes, ca. 6900 ft., E aspect.with deep gravelly soil. Subalpine shrubland of Symphoricarpos oreophilus, Artemisia tridentata var. vaseyana, Ceanothus velutinus, Populus tremuloides, surrounding forest of Abies bifolia, Delphinium nelsonii, Taraxacum officinale, Populus tremuloides, Poa bulbosa, and Poa pratensis.
