WSW of Alto, NM, in Lincoln National Forest; 20 ft. uphill from Eagle Creek; lj- NW of junction of the canyon's road with NM 532» (SE comfirr Sec. 25 T10S R12E); P. ponderosa dominant; with yellow pine, Douglas fir, Rosa sp. Smilaclna; plants covering a large area of hillside and numerous spreading by rhizomes 81-087 is a recollection (5 May 1981) of the same population for better specimens with Tom Arsuffi.
