Research garden at private residence, 1411 Winding
Lane. Thomasboro 7.5' quadrangle. Elevation 757
feet. Garden soil, mostly calcareous dark clay.
Cultivated in back garden in nearly full sun. Flowers
blood-red, outer (margin of head) ones with longer
petals; perennial herb to 0.5 meter tall,
several-stemmed, leaves basal in winter.
