Wisconsin, Dane Co., 0.7 miles SE of Black Earth,
between railroad and Hwy. 14, just NW of intersection with
Kaul Road.
43°08’06”N, 89°44’00”W. alt. 260 m.
Herbs, strictly erect, to 1.6 m. tall. Corolla white. Small
patch of ca. 25 plants in unshaded grassy area with Poa,
Pastinaca sativa, Silphium integrifolium, Euphorbia esula.
Another, somewhat larger colony a few hundred meters NW
of here towards Black Earth and a few plants seen on W
side of Black Earth along Hwy. 14, but otherwise these are
the only plants of Dipsacus seen along Hwy. 14 between the
Beltline at Middleton (Dane Co.) and Bosstown (Richland
Co.).
