"Mexican Boundary Survey." [Annotation on sheet by G. H. Thomas dated 1856: "I found this tree first near Laredo on the Rio Grande and from that place to Ringgold Bks. Also near Fort Brown. Sept & Oct. in flower. In 1846 I saw it for the first time near Corpus Christi. Height 25 to 30 feet."]
