JS PLANTS OF FLORIDA, U.S.A. Pyrolaceae Monotropa uniflora L. Leon County: before drying, plant at anthesis white with black streaks and blotches, the flower strongly bodding. After anthesis, the flower becomes erect and the plant gradually becomes pinkish. In upland, woodland with large pines, P.echlna- ta and P. taeda, widely scattered, their crowns in an overstory, beneath which hardwoods form a rather dense understory, the latter composed mainly of the following: Quercus nigra, Q. falcata, Q. michauxii, Q. alba, Carya glabra, C. tomento^a, Cornus florIda, Sassafras albidum Llquidambar styraciflua. Site was until 1966 annually burned, open pineland with herbaceous ground flora. Last burn, an accidental one, was in 1967. R. K. Godfrey 83651 27 October 1989 HARVARD UNIVERSITY HERBARIA 04226733
