Vicinity of Bald Eagle State Forest. Elevation about 1430 feet. Appalachian Mountains. Gneissic rock ridge, humus-rich peaty soil. Mesic forest, with Tsuga canadensis, Nyssa sylvatica, Ilex montana, Rhododendron maximum, Quercus rubra, Betula allegheniensis, Kalmia latifolia.
