Elaeagnus umbellata Thunb.
ELAEAGNACEAE
Shrubs to 10ft tall, usually less, locally abundant, some
of the thicker twigs possess thorns. Growing in an open
bottomland forest in loamy, alluvial soil (Middlebury
soils; coarse-loamy, mixed, superactive, mesic
Fluvaquentic Eutrudepts). Growing with Acer
saccharinum, Actium minus, Alliaria petiolata, Aster
sp., Dipsacus fullonum, Fraxinus pensylvanica, Hystrix
patula, Impatiens sp., Lindera benzoin, Lythrum
salicaria, Robinia pseudoacacia, Rosa multiflora,
Rudbeckia laciniata, Rumex crispus, Solidago
canadensis, Solidago sp., Taraxacum officinale,
Toxicodendron radicans & Vitis sp. Beside a parking
area just E. of Rt. 11 & just W. of the Susquehanna
River, & to the S. side of Liverpool. Perry Co. Elev.
about 385ft. 40° 34' 08.7"N, 76° 59' 32.0"W. UTM 18
