PAPUA NEW GUINEA, NEW GUINEA, EAST SEPIK, near
Langu village, through the adjacent swampland and ascending
the buttress ridge to the mountain above, lowland alluvial forest
on flat swampy substrate. From margins of Metroxylon swamp
and on lower slopes adjacent hills. Ascending the buttress ridge
to the mountain above. On moderate slopes.

Tree 20 m tall. Small basal swelling. Infructescence terminal and
axillary to 10 cm. Fruit orange, seemingly depressed on one side
and inflated on the other. Pericarp smooth, fleshy. Seeds aborted.
Vernacular name: Mahapa (Waskuk).
Uses: The wood is used as posts for fences and in house
foundations.
