Perennial, non-rhizomatous; leaves filiform, mostly involute basal, blade glaucous < 1 mm wide, 7-13 cm long, ligule 2.5-3 mm, erase, pointed; purplish inflorescence, spikelets 6.5 mm long, 3-florets per spikelet, 1st glume 3-nerved, 3.2 mm, 2nd glume 4 mm, lemma awnless, 5-nerved obscurely, scarious on margins, palea 3.5 mm hair on callous.
