Common in open grassy areas, in patches
of low second growth rain forest, and
in brushy woodland close to the gigan-
tic gneissic rocks of the neighborhood.
Large shrub tending to be subscandent,
and in forest ascending to 6-8 m.
Specimens from a plant ?/hich had been
scorched by a grass fire, and bore
young leaves, a few flowers, and a
number of nearly ripe fruits which were
perhaps maturing prematurely« Corolla
tube dark purplish-red; lobes yellow,
falcate.
