Morobe province, flood plain of the Markham River, elev. <20 m, typical riverine stand on silt/mud/alluvium; inundated during periodic storm surges; lat. 6 deg. 41' S x long. 146 deg. 53' 30” E. woody climber; scandent, glutinous latex; conspicuous in the canopy if flowering otherwise easily overlooked; twigs strigulose; leaves opposite, distichous, exstipulate, fleshy-coriaceous, blades elliptic or oblong-ovate, typically 12x6 cm; adaxially medium glossy green, glabrous, veins yellow; abaxially yellow green to glaucescent, puberulent on the veins; inflorescence narrow, typical 15x6 cm; the flowers in multiple terminal panicles; perianth 5- merous; cafyx pink, laxly hairy; corolla imbricate, red at the base and apically pink, limb turned to the right, 1 cm diameter, throat encircled by a fleshy disk; stamens epipetalous, erect, surrounding the stigma, laciniate at the top of the filaments. collection: W.
