The New York Botanical Garden Cultivated Plants of BOLIVIA Apocynaceae Thevetia peruviana L. det. M. Nee, 2006 DEPTO. Tarija, Prov. Gran Chaco, Villa Montes, the original vegetation chaco forest. 21°15.94’S, 63°28.55’W. alt. 385 m. Small treelet, commonly cultivated along city streets in Villa Montes; all seem to be fully leafed out with new shoots and without any of the unsightly defoliation by caterpillars seen here in 29 May 2005 and collected under no. Nee 53205. Sap milky. Flowers bright yellow, commonly visited by hummingbirds (7:30 A.M., heavy overcast after night of rain), but the birds seen other mornings this week, often several hummingbirds per tree. Coll.: M.
