Thymelaeaceae Dirca palustris L. det. M. Nee, 2018 Michigan, Gogebic Co., Ottawa National Forest, along Forest Road 8100, 1.75 km SW of junction with Dunham Road. 46°22’05”N, 89°47’ 14”W. alt. 495 m. Forest on slight slope, Acer saccharum, Betula alleghaniensis, Tsuga canadensis, with a few small Abies balsamea. Shrub 1.5 m. tall, 4 cm. in diameter, with single stem and with much-branched, rounded top; wood soft, white; bark fibrous and tough. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw.
