Grassy, untended edge of lawn at farmhouse, spontaneous
small tree, 8 m. tall, 17 cm. in diameter, 8 years old. When
dry, sapwood pale yellow, the heartwood pale tan. Voucher
for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw
Penn State. Inflorescences dark purple, almost black.
Staminate inflorescences with anthers beginning to dehisce
on elongate filaments; pistillate flowers much less
conspicuous, with creamy stigmas. Same tree collected with
mature leaves on 28 June 2018 under no. Nee 63026.
