Saul (3037’N, 53°12'W) and vicinity; Les Eaux Claires, ca. 7
km N of Saul; Sentier Botanique, ca. 2-2.5 km from start of trail;
non-flooded, moist forest along a ridge; ca. 350-400 m alt.
Juvenile treelet 1,4 m tall, with two stems from base;
younger twigs exuding a little white latex; wood in
cross-section composed of 6 layers, which are alterna-
ting brown and lighter brown; ramification according
to Nozeran's model (very similar to Prevost's model);
each stem composed of ca. 5 modules (growth-units),
which are 15-30 cm long; stem between the terminal
whorl and the new shoot 0,8-3 cm long; each terminal
whorl composed of three plagiotrophic branches; each
branch with 1-2 ramifications and 5-14, distichous
leaves between the ramifications; older twigs and lea-
ves at first sight glabrous; youngest twigs with
appressed brown hairs; young leaves appressed whitish-
sericeous; [8 photographs taken].
