Branches drooping, soft grey velutinous. Fruit brown, velutinous, abundant white, very bitter latex. Bitter bark is boiled or soaked in alcohol, alone or with other medicinal plants and taken daily "to bitter the blood", to prevent sores and malaria. Sold in Paramaribo as a ready-made medicine.
