Harvard University, Gray Herbarium (GH) PLANTS OF BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO Xylococcus bicolor Nutt. ERICACEAE Shrub 4ft tall, rare, bark red-brown & peeling, more common about 0.1 mi to the E., just west of a creek. On a moderate to steep W-facing slope in open, grassy chaparral scrub in sandy loam over granite and amongst large granite boulders. With Acalypha californica, Adiantum jordanii, Aesculus parryi, Asterella californica, Astragalus trichopodus, Avena barbata, Brassica tournfortii (?), Bromus madritensis, Carex triquetra, Castillejo exserta, Cneoridium dumosum, Convolvulus sp., Cryptantha pondii, Cryptomitrium tenerum, Dichelostemma capitatum, Encelia californica, Ephedra californica, Eriodictyon sessilifolium, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Erodium moschatum, Eucrypta chrysanthemifolia, Fossombronia longiseta, Fraxinus trifoliata, Galium porrigens, Gnaphalium bicolor, Helianthemum scoparium, Linanthus dianthiflorus, Lonicera subspicata, Lotus hamatus, L. scoparius, L. strigosus, Lupinus concinnus, L. truncatus, Malacothamnus densiflorus, Marah macrocarpus, Medicago sp., Melilotus officinalis, Mirabilis californica, Ornithostaphylos oppositifolia, Pentagramma triangularis, Pholistoma racemosum, Plagiobothrys bracteatus, Plantago erecta, Pterostegia drymarioides, Rhus integrifolia, R. laurina, Sambucus mexicana, Silene gallica, Tortula brevipes, Trifolium willdenovii and Viguiera laciniata.
