ERICACEAE
Compact shrubs to 3ft tall, locally common, fruit dark
red. On a gentle east to northeast-facing slope in open
chaparral & coastal scrub atop a high sea cliff of
probably basalt, in rocky loam. With Adenostoma
fasciculatum, Agave shawii, Avena barbata,
Bergerocactus emoryi, Bromus madritensis, Ceanothus
verrucosus, Centauria melitensis, Centaurium
venustum, Cneoridium dumosum, Eriodictyon
trichocalyx, Eriophyllum confertiflorum, Gnaphalium
bicolor, Navarretia sp., Rhus laurina, Selaginella
cinerascens, Simmondsia chinensis, Viguiera laciniata
& killer bees. Above the El Mirador lookout, between
the picnic area and microwave towers, about 0.15mi
SW of Mexico Rt. ID, & around 12 to 13 air miles
NW of central Ensenada. Elev. around 500ft. 31° 58'
