  • Specimen Notes

"Note: This was found two years ago in Fla(?) and Ames reported it in a Ceylon publication. Last Feb. I found it to be commonin a moist roadside ditch about 12 miles east of Kisseemee along state road 24. See Ames Orchidacea 2:59.1908 for synonyms. This sheet represents large plants for this year (being dry). Cattle graze the roadsides so it is often only 2-5 inches high. The largest specimen I found was 23 cm. long, in a muck swamp with Sea Myrtle and Baccharis sp. The plant was common but I had no way to care for them because I had only one press and could not care for many."
