E of center of Santa Cruz on road to Cotoca. 17°46'S, 63°04,W. alt. 375 m. Subtropical, semi-deciduous "Chaco” forest, 4-8 m. tall, dense, spiny, briefly inundated in the rainy season, very flat, the soil fine sandy and silty, Bumelia obtusifolia, Capparis tweediana, Reichen- bachia hirsuta. Shrub 2 m. tall, east end of abandoned agricultural strip B. A native species which I have not yet seen in flower or fruit in the Jardin. Coll.: M. Nee 39930 16 Nov. 1990 04177530
