My dear Dr. Small:-
Under separate cover I sent you a frond
from a climbing fern that I have come across. It has
made its appearance in three different localities.
Two places it was climbing up trees, up so far six feet
from the ground, the other place it has nothing to
cling to so ran along the ground. It likes dense shade.
Some of the fronds measures three feet in length. The
root was not densely covered with hair as some of our
ferns, but would send up fronds from the sections where
it would take root, but the running roots were neither
jointed or had nodes.
