Cerrado at base of Morro do Chapéu. By roadside, and by tracks on trampled ground.

Description
Precumbent stoloniferous herb with stolons often over 2 m. long, rooting at the nodes some distance from the tips of the shoots. leaves rather leathery, mid green, slightly glossy with strong foetid odour. Flowering heads purple tinged when young. Corolla deep bright purple, with white marking in throat. Fruiting heads green at first turning brown, falling in their entirety when mature. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
