Habitat
Common in area on clay banks of roadsides through fields and pastures over limestone karst. Original vegetation was of Pinus-Quercus forest. Common.

Description
Vigorous young shrubs to 2.5 m. tall. Young growth ferruginous; plants seem to just beginning to bloom; flowers odorless; corolla blue-purple; anthers yellow; stigma green; flowers buzzed by bumble-bees. Solanum chrysotrichum Schldl. not seen here and this does not appear to be a hybrid with it but rather an extremely ferruginous and robust development of S. lanceolatum, which it matches in all other respects. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
