Wet meadows and riparian areas near stream and drier
meadows above it. Lodgepole pine, Engelmann spruce and
some Douglas fir canopy.
Rhizomatous; culm leaves ~ 3 mm wide, sheath open ~ 2/3,
liqule ~ 3 mm, papery; open panicle, spikelets 6-7 mm long,
4 5 florets- lower glume at least 1/2 as long as lowest
lemma; lemma 3 1/2-4 mm long.
