Description
Cultivated. Tree 14 m. tall, 40 cm. diameter; bark dark, tight, flakey; crown dense, dark green; needles mostly oriented upwards, pointing at ca. 45° toward the tip. Winter buds not resinous, the scales with free, recurved tips. Cones common, variable in size, 6-10.5 cm. long, much shorter than those in most cultivars of Picea abies. Accession data lost; seems to eactly match a tree in the MOntgomery Conifer Collection on the grounds of the New York Botanical Garden and labelled as "Picea abies var. conica." Voucher for wood specimen, MADw 47487. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
