The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Piperaceae Piper amalago L. det. M. Nee, 2006 Depto. Santa Cruz, Prov. Cordillera, 2.5 km (by road) W of railroad and 3.5 km (by road) W of the Santa Cruz-Abapó highway and San Joaquin, along gravel road to “Pozo PCH XI001”, the turnoff 5.5 km S of Basilio. 18°10.64’S, 63°12.79’W. alt. 570 m. Chaco forest on gentle slopes on unconsolidated sediments, the easternmost Andean hills before the plains. With Anadenanthera macrocarpa, Herrería montevidensis, Trichilia claussenii, Ceiba speciosa, C. insignis, Bougainvillea stipitata, Pogonopus tubulosus and the columnar cacti Cereus dayami and C. comarapanus. Many Bignoniaceae vines (e.g. Perianthomega vellozii, Tynanthus) with green fruit, but only one blooming, no. 53132 Parabignonia chodatii. Many of the vines and shrubs appear to already be water-stressed. Shrub 2.5 m. tall. Spikes erect. Coll.: M. Nee 53137 24 May 2005 04135100
