Evergreen tropical lowland forest in occasionally flooded flat area, partially disturbed. 17°24’S, 64°08’W. alt. 275 m. Shrub 2 m. tall. Common in brushy areas along sandy river floodplain, less so and with more of different species of Piperaceae on the seldom or unflooded forest and pasture areas. Spikes arching. Coll.: M. Nee & E.
