¡Climbing epiphyte* Lvs with velvety-green sheen,
subranslucent above; red, with prominent green
veins below. Spikes erect. In X-sectibn, upper
3/4 of leaf hydrenchyma, lower J with chlor-
enchyma, green greatly concentrated in upper part
of layer, this—under 15X lens—appears to be no
more than 1 cell-layer thick.
PROV. CHIMBORAZO: Cafion of the rio Chanchan, about 5 km. north of
Huigra; 5,000-6,500 ft. elev. (Moist forested valleys in the afternoon fog-
belt.)
