Disturbed young woods and edge of old farm road up
narrow valley and open area by parking area along Winkers
Lane, around former farmstead which has been removed
several decades ago. Acer negundo and some rank, weedy
vegetation. With naturalized and spreading Sorbaria
sorbifolia, Hydrangea arborescens.
Dense colony of shrublets to 2 m. tall, to 1.2 cm. in
diameter and perhaps 2 or 3 years old; bark pale tan
papery-peeling when dry; pith wide, white. Voucher for
wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, RSAw. Sterile
peripheral flowers white; fertile flowers more greenish
white and many not yet open.
