Tree, 12 m High, d.b.h. 15 cm. Outer
bark dark reddish brown, slightly rough;
inner bark (dark) red; wood cream,
turning reddish, hard; heartwood red.
Leaves dark green above, with pale
green nervation, pale green below, with
brownish prim. + sec. nerves; blade
subcoreaceous; petiole greenish above,
brownish below. Infructescence
cauliflorous from 8 m above ground
level. Fruits dark yellow orange, almost
mature, brown postulated; 2.5-3.5 by
3.5-4.5 cm; fruit wall 8 mm thick; styles
and stigma persistent; seeds 3-6;
arillode transludent yellow, edible,
sweet-sour; septae cream; cotyledons,
embryo and endosperm white.
