nickel and cobalt strip mine. Alt. 40 m
ca. 75°32’W, 20°38'N
Shrub to small tree, 1-10 m, often
multiple-stemmed, trunk diam. ca. 5 cm.
(Often similar in habit to C.
eriostachys from Central America and
Mexico). Wood hard and dense. Bark
dark brown. Leaflets dark green, glossy
above, paler below. Flowers yellow,
standard with orange-red net veins.
Fruit green maturing brown. Flowers
visited by Cuban Emerald Hummingbird
(taking nectar) and Yellow-faced
Grassquit (probably taking insects).
