FOREST HERBARIUM OXFORD UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD OXFORD UK Flora of MEXICO Caesalpinia mexicana A Gray State: San Luis Potosi Lat 21° 57'N Long 99° O'W Alt 75m Close to the main road running S from Ciudad Valles towards Tamazunchale, about 3km from Valles. Small slender upright tree to 4m ht. Bark greenish grey, smooth but with raised orange-brown or pale grey lenticels arranged in semaphore lines, inner bark green. Leaves slightly discolourous, mid green above paler below. Flowers on erect terminal inflorescences opening acropetally. Flowers faintly scented, calyx yellow green, petals bright yellow, the standard faintly streaked orange at the base, yellow or orange glands at base of petals, stamens and style yellow green, hairy, anthers mid yellow brown. No pods. Abundant in secondary vegetation by the roadside with Guazuma ulmifolia, Acacia, Leucaena pulverulenta and Tabebuia HUGHES CE : 1606 12 February 1992 With SA. Harris and R.
