Caesalpinia gaumeri Mexico: Quintana Roo, ca. 35 km N of Chetumal oh highway 307 to Felipe Carillo Puerto, ca 6 km before the turning to Miguel Hidalgo. 18°40’N, 88°22’W. Alt. 60 m Roadside forest remnant amongst secondary scrub. Tree to 7 m, DBH 15 cm. Bark grey, vertically, shallowly fissured, lenticellate, under-bark yellowish cream over-patterned deep green, slash creamish. First branching at 3 m, little branching tereafter, crown open. Foliage yellowish green, semi-coriaceous, somewhat discolourous, slightly darker above. Flowers slightly peppery scented.
