port. 200-250 m alt.

Tree, 20 m high x ca 40 cm. Fruits turn purple-red
when mature. Outer bark smoth, tan when scraped,
divided by numerous irregular shallow longitudinal
cracks. Trunk slightly buttressed at base. Inner
bark about 1 cm thick, pink in color. Slash exudes
copious amounts of white latex. Fruits dispersed by
bats. Common part of the secondary forest which bor-
ders the Saiil airstrip.
