Large colony in partly wooded, partly open,
untended area with Ambrosia trifida.
Herbaceous perennial; stems to 2.5 m. tall,
largest stems to 3 cm. in diameter, hollow;
xylem to 2 mm thick maximum. Reaching end of
flowering period, apparently a single male
clone; inflorescence erect, the axis light
yellow-green, the bracts light brown; flowers
white, lightly fragrant, eagerly visited by
honey bees and small bumblebees. Voucher for
wood specimen, MADw 46537.
