Above cloud forest. Not dense, canopy open, 6-12 m	^ 1..... III
Few low herbs, Neurolepis pittieri common along ridge tree ferns & palms
(Catoblastus prae-morsus) dominating the understorey, mosses & epiphytes
abundant. Poorly developed friable soil with peaty humic topsoil. Slope inclination
17-44°. 1685 malt.
Tree 9 m tall, 13 cm D.B.H. Crown dense, extensive vertically, cylindrical in shape,
closed at centre becoming sparse towards margins. Bark rough with abundant vertical
fissures to 5 cm long, no flaking, crumbles in places when rubbed, light brown; outer
bark 1 mm thick, inner bark 4 mm thick, salmon pink. No latex. No distinctive slash
smell. Leaves shiny, smooth both surfaces. Inflorescence a spike. Fruit green
(immature), green calyx persisting. [Voucher #T53]
