A tree SO cm. dbh & 32 m. tall, sap is bitter, bark medium soft (yellow inside), fruit
w/3 seeds (black). Seeds and fruit are very bitter and spicy numbing the lip and tongue.
Wood is white.
ft is occasionally found in primary mountain forest at 300 to 700 m. of altitude. The
soil is normally sandy dark brown, quite humid and rich in humus. Tropical
environment with an annual average of 27°C temp. ( at 150 m of altitude) and 3500
mm. of rain with high humidity and a dry season from December 15 till March 15 (with
rain at least once a week).
Fruit is a game animal food for parrot (Amazon sp.) and other birds. Wood can be
used a firewood but not good for house construction.
