Open 'beach forest' on laterite
Tree, 4 m high. Bark pale brown, wood yellow, bad smell.
Transparent sap. Flowers yellow. Tea from leaves used to rinse
mouth to ease toothache. Tea is also used by Saramaccan women
to wash vagina after child birth.
