Locality lowest slopes and foot of south side of Mt. Matanta (Buache),
north of head of Lela Harbor
Habitat low ridges, ravines, and marshes, with Manihot patches, thickets,
patches of woods.
Cultivated in clearing on low ridge.

Remarks Shrubs 2-3 m. tall; stems knobby, flowers green
marked with red; "tapioca" natives were forced
by Japanese to pldnt this to feed soldiers, now
eaten by natives.
