USA, California, Los Angeles County, Santa Catalina Island: along upper part of road to Toyon Bay, 0.5 mi from top of the road. 11N 0373230E 3691930N Elev: 381m. (1250 ft.) Loose E-facing talus slope. Annual to 1.5 ft. high X 2.5 ft. across; wings bluish-purple, keel whitish, banner bluish-purple with broad white vertical band in center; flowers aging reddish-maroon. Locally abundant. Associated species: Melica imperfecta, Rafinesquia californica, Sonchus oleraceus, Brachypodium distachyon, Lupinus concinnus, Mirabilis californica, Bromus rubens, Avena barbata, Uropappus, Lupinus truncatus, Lotus purshianus.
