Subtropical semi-deciduous forest and road-
sides in gorge of Rio Pirai as it emerges from
the easternmost foothills of the Andes,
Slender shrub 2 m. tall. Many small bees
around the few open flowers (4:45 P.M.); pet-
als light green with purple inside. Fruit
green, the immature fruit with bright orange
nectary ring at base.
