Victoria (from jet. of hwy. 85 and
Carrera Torres) on the road to Juamave,
just off road. Alt. 5000 to 6000 ft.
Manihot Pringlei Watson
Plants forming a small colony, very
local. Disturbed habitat, in soil
dumped after road construction. Local
vegetation mixed broad leaf oak forest
with DiQOn edule; Croton sp., solanum
shrubs and scattered palms. More or
less erect, 3-4 m. high, 3-4 m. spread,
di-trichotomous branching. Roots
tuberous, shallow, elongated enlarged,
very similar to M. esculenta, surface
relatively smooth, lenticels arranged
along horizontal lines, epidermis
brown (5 YR 4/5*), subepidermis light
tan somewhat yellowish, flesh whitish
somewhat pulpy and soft, very little
indication of HCN. Mature stem light
gray, with vertically oriented elong-
ated lenticels, young stem greenish
gray-brown. Petiole green, reddish
(7.5 R 4/11*) towards the base, veins
on lower leaf surface red (7.5 R 4/11*}
FI. buds reddish (2.5 R	& fls.
reddish externally (2.5 R 4/10*), greei
ish yellow inside (2.5 GY 9/8*), disc
yellow (5 Y 9/9*), tepal lobes erect.
Fr. nearly mature, ovoid-ellipsoid,
apex with a prominent stigma scar,
winged: wings not prominent; ribs verj
dark maroon (2.5 R 3/7*), greenish in
between, surface smooth, disc promin-
ent at base of fruits.
