Apparently introduced from near New
Orleans.
Plant about 15> feet tall. Trunk 10"
diameter at base# Bark smooth, reddish-
brown, about 6 mm. thick, peeling readily
from trunk. Latex in small quantity,
ight yellowish-white.
This plant said to be between four and
seven years old. Also said to have
inseet-repellant qualities for those who
sit in its shade. Plant has strong odor
of HCN in all parts.
Nianerous seedlings found near base of this
afteoimen. No other large plant in the
vicinity.
Plants frost-resistant, but sensitive
t© prolonged sub-freezing temperatures*
Staminate and pistillate flowers and
foung fruits on this plant.
J tepals 2.5® 9/8*, brilliant yellow
green, with maroon dots internally at
base of lobe. Disc bright orange.
