Apparently introduced from near New
Orleans.
Plant about 13> feet tall. Trunk 10n
I diameter at base. Bark smooth, reddish-
brown, about 6 mm. thick, peeling readily
from trunk. Latex in small quantity,
flight yellowish-white.
This plant said to be between four and
seven years eld. Also said to have
*inseet-repellant qualities for those who
sit in its shade. Plant has strong odor
of HCN in all parts.
Numerous seedlings found near base of
this specimen. N© other large plant in
the vicinity.
Plants frost-resistant, but sensitive
to prolonged sub-freezing temperatures.
Staminate and pistillate flowers and
young fruits on this plant.
<S tepals 2.i?GY 9/8*, brilliant yellow
green, with maroon dots internally at
base of lobe. Disc bright orange.
