Cordillera, 7 km S of Salinas on highway from Camiri to Cuevo. Grazed chaco forest on slopes of small hills. Caesalpinia paraguariensis, Jatropha spp., Capparis speciosa. 20°17’S, 63°27’W alt. 920 m. Shrublets, unbranched or with a few branches on oldest plants to 2.2 m. tall. Stems tapered, to 6 cm. in diameter at base; bark peeling into tan papery pieces. Sap watery, copious. Leaves glossy, green with purplish nearer the base and the petiole. Flowers odorless (9:30 A.M., mostly sunny); petals pale yellowish with purple on part outside in bud. Coll.: M.
