Elevation 1200-1500 ft. Several trees to 30 or more meters tall and to 100 cm. dbh, trunk and branches heavily armed with spines, a sap purplish milky (“leche de avilla") causing skin irritation and severe pain to eyes, last- Robert Merrill King and Thomas R. Söderström, no. 25-31 October 1961 West-facing slopes of Sierra Madre del Sur, ca. 32 kms. north of Playa Azul (region of Los Encinos); vegetation mixed tropical deciduous forest. Elevation 1200-1500 ft. ing many hours, seeds said to be leathal when eaten. Common name "Avilla." Wood voucher.
