"bosque mesofilo de montana"); leading trees in
descending order of frequency: Acacia acatlensis
(20-35 m tall)-Ru8selia arbórea (13. rarely 15 m
m)-Poulzozia sp., with Chlococca-Xylosma-Ery-
thrina of similar frequency to one another, Bur-
sera & Prunus (not cortaplco) less frequent than
these, andTrichilla &Fraxinus uhdei rare (latter
8-10 m, at lowest edge of alt. range) ; Montanoa
abundant in understory (not more than 7 m tall or 3
cm DBH., no palms present but Chuspuea llebmannil
abundant; groundlayer very rich, with many ferns
(Asplenlum pumilum, Cystopteris fragilis. Adlan-
