Alt. 1420-1450 m., mean annual rainfall
probably c. 230 mm. Gentle limestone
slopes with remnants of red forest soil,
cultivated where deep enough. Climax
vegetation Quercus calliprinos forest, of
which a few stunted Crataegus azarolus
bushes are the sole remnant. Grazing
animals excluded by wire fence since 1960.
