Description: Shrubby, \ m high and up to 1 m in diameter, growing in rock crevices. The outermost part (20-30 m) of the branches clearly segmented, but the segmentation seems to disappear on the basal parts of the branches. Branches 4 angled. Spineshields continuous on the segments, but not between them. Spines of varying length 0.1 to 1.2 cm. Fruits and flowers dark red. Flowers 0.8 cm in diameter, with 5 glands. Glands without horns, ovate. Flowers without stalk, only 1 flower pr. flowe- ring eye. Fruits 0.9 cm in diameter,- deeply 3-lobed.
